Grade 7
Mathematics
Third Grading
Week 1
Day 1
I.
Standards:
a. Content
Standard: The learner demonstrates an understanding of key
concepts of geometry of shapes
b. Performance
Standard: The learner can to create models of plane figures using CorelDRAW
II.
Objectives:
a. Cognitive: The learner represents a point, line, and plane using concrete and pictorial models
in CorelDRAW
b. Affective: The learner describes
points, lines and planes
c. Psycho-motor: The learner
differentiates the three shapes-point, line and plane
III.
Subject Matter: Geometry

Materials: Computers with CorelDRAW
III.
Procedure:
a. Set the Stage
·
Turn
on all the computers
·
Ensure
that every learner has its internet connection
·
Open
CorelDRAW
b. Five “E” Approach
1.
Engage
·
The
teacher will present to the learners the “Search Similar” activity.
o Instructions:
1.
Search
in the internet and look for images that have similar shapes to the following
drawings:
1)
2) 3)

2.
Copy
three images of each shape and paste them in CorelDRAW Sheet 1.
3.
Please
draw the shape on top of each image to prove their similarity.
2.
Explore
·
The
teacher will task the learners to do the following instructions to generate new
ideas.
o Instructions:
1.
Each
learner will look for a partner.
2.
Each
partner will discuss and agree their description (at least 1) of each shape
posted in the CorelDRAW Sheet 1.
3.
The
partner will write down at the bottom of the shape their agreed descriptions.
3.
Explain
·
The
teacher will instruct each partner to present their agreed descriptions to the
class by using the monitor in front. Let the learners explain their outputs.
·
After
the presentation of all the learners’ explanation, the teacher will guide the
class the proper descriptions of the shape by correcting the wrong one and recognizing
the correct description.
·
Then
the teacher will present the definition of a point, line, and plane to the
class as follows using the monitor:
o Point- has no
dimension, no width, no length, and no thickness. It is represented by a dot
and is denoted by capital letters like;
.A “Point A”
o Line- consists
of infinitely many points extending indefinitely in opposite directions and is
represented by opposing arrows. It is named by any of its two points or by a
lowercase letter.
<--------------> __

o Plane-extends
indefinitely in all directions. It has no thickness, but it has length and
width. It is usually represented by a four-sided figure and can be named by at
least three non-collinear points on it, which are non-collinear or by using a
single uppercase letter.

R "Plane ABC" “Plane R”
.B .C
·
After
the presentation of the definition, the Teacher will play the video on “naming
points, lines, and planes.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhHuwKq6CNs
4. Elaborate
·
The
teacher will task the learners (individually) in the following instructions:
o In your CorelDRAW,
rename Sheet 2 as Points, Sheet 3 as Lines, and Sheet 4 as Planes
o Search the images
of the following phrases, and paste them in any of those sheets that correctly
represent the shapes.
1.
head
of a nail on the wall
2.
screen
of a television
3.
edge
of the blackboard
4.
top
of a table
5.
star
in the sky viewed from earth
5.
Evaluate
·
The
teacher, with the learners, will check their output to know who among the
learners master or not master the competencies.
·
If
the class still has time, the teacher will continue to unlock all difficulties
of understanding among diverse learners. (Note: If no enough time, the
unlocking will be done on the next session)
·
List
down the names of the learners who do not master the lesson for future
remediation.
o Not Master
