Destination in Carmen, Davao del Norte
Carmen, Davao del Norte is about 38 kilometers
(24 mi) from Davao City, and about 17 kilometers (11 mi) from Tagum
City, the capital of Davao del Norte. It has a total land area of 16,600
hectares (41,000 acres).
Carmen has vast rice
fields, while its abundant water hyacinth areas provide local women a source of
livelihoods such as mat and bag handicraft making. Carmen is also a part of the
Davao Metropolitan Area.

at P5-A, Tuganay, Carmen, Davao del Norte.
WOW CARMEN is a social enterprise of mostly women that brings Carmen water
hyacinth to the international market, a festive-look handicraft. In the
production area you can witness the women weavers transforming the worth of
water hyacinth from trash to cash; converting its usefulness from hopeless
frustration to a costly possession, and altering its consequences from farm
disturbance to community abundance. Third, BALUTAN SA CARMEN along national
high. it is an enterprise organized by
Carmen LGU. It has a unique history,
which shows the expression of Carmenian's resiliency. Floods, which occasionally visited Carmen,
developed the BALUTAN SA CARMEN business concept. The concept started when
people who vacated along the national highway sold their produced eggs for
food. Later, it became a permanent business, with the help of the government.
They innovated the product from raw egg to salted egg and BALUT. Fourth, the KAHAYAG FESTIVAL during December
at municipal plaza. It is a showcase of skills and creativity of Christmas tree
and belen of the participating barangays, schools and some private enterprises.
Lastly, the “Battle of Ising” Memorial Park along the junction of Carmen, Sto
Tomas and Tagum road. The park was
established to commemorate the bloody battle between the Japanese Imperial Army
and the Filipino Guerrillas on May 3-10, 1945.
The famous battle of Ising is the paragon of Filipino patriotism in
Davao Region.
